The Washington Restaurant Association (WRA) this week honored Chad Mackay, president and chief operating officer of El Gaucho Hospitality, as its 2012 Full Service Operator of the Year, for his extraordinary service within the industry, the community and beyond.
Known throughout the region for its commitment to an unparalleled dining experience, El Gaucho’s capacity for excellence extends beyond its award-winning kitchen and dining room. Mackay’s dedication to the success of all restaurants throughout Washington made him the clear choice for this honor.
Over the past year, Mackay has led the industry on several defining issues—in particular, state tourism and liquor privatization. He has helped forge stronger ties between the state’s restaurant and hotel industries; and as a member of the WRA’s Government Affairs Committee, Mackay is an engaged partner in the industry’s legislative efforts and political advocacy in Olympia.
Along with his involvement on policy issues, Mackay has been instrumental in creating a culture of charity and service among the El Gaucho team. From the restaurant’s ongoing partnership with Seattle Union Gospel Mission, to its charitable contributions for education, health care and human services, El Gaucho is a model of community giving.
“Chad has a broad vision for restaurants in Washington, and we are grateful for his willingness to put action behind it,” said Anthony Anton, WRA president and CEO. “Chad’s leadership at El Gaucho and within the industry emerges as an example for his peers throughout the state’s business community. We are proud to honor his achievement.”
